How we clear blockages

Taking apart and cleaning the trap: the fix for most sinks, basins and showers.
Plunger and hand pump: for a toilet blocked by paper or a recent clog.
Manual or electric drain snake: it goes down the pipe and breaks up or pulls out the blockage.
Removing the toilet bowl when an object is stuck.
High-pressure jetting (hydrocurage): cleans the whole pipe wall. This is the drain cleaning to plan for grease, scale and building stacks.
Camera inspection for recurring blockages or damaged pipes.

We do not use harsh chemicals: they damage seals and old pipes, and make any later work dangerous.

Unblocking prices in Paris

Blocked toilet: €150 excl. VAT for simple unblocking, €470 excl. VAT with removal of the bowl. Blocked shower or bath: €150 excl. VAT for one outlet, €175 excl. VAT for several outlets at once. Blocked main stack or drain column: quoted after inspection, with a camera inspection at €190 excl. VAT. The price is given before any work, depending on access and method (see our prices).

How the visit works

You call or send a photo or short video of the blocked drain.
We give you the price and a time slot, the same day where needed.
The plumber protects your floors, locates the blockage and picks the right method.
The drain is cleared, then tested at full flow to check no water backs up elsewhere.
You get a clear report: cause of the blockage, work done, advice to stop it coming back.

Why drains block in older Paris buildings

Cast iron pipes that narrow inside over decades of grease and limescale.
Shallow falls: in flats that have been reconfigured, the kitchen or bathroom waste can run several metres under the floorboards before it reaches the stack.
Macerator toilets fitted where there was no proper soil pipe: they cope badly with wipes and too much paper.
Stacks shared by every floor: if water comes up in your shower when a neighbour empties their bath, the blockage is probably in the shared stack, not in your flat.

In that case, tell the syndic (the building's managing agent) or the gardien (caretaker). We can clear the stack with their agreement and send them a report.

Who pays for unblocking?

Blockage in your own pipes (trap, toilet, waste pipe up to the stack): the occupant of the flat, tenant or owner, unless a faulty pipe has to be replaced.
Blocked shared stack: the copropriété (the co-owned building), through the syndic.
Insurance: the unblocking itself is not usually covered, but water damage caused by an overflow may be, depending on your policy. Keep the invoice and photos.

The plumber's report states where the blockage was: that is what settles who pays.

Making contact

You call us, or you send us a message with a brief description of the problem. If possible, attach one or two photos. We will get back to you quickly with an estimate or a proposed time slot.

On-site diagnosis

The network plumber goes on site with his equipment. It identifies the origin of the plug: siphon, accumulation, stuck object, slope problem, or plug further downstream. He explains the situation to you, and what he is going to do.

Unblocking

We use the right tools depending on the problem: - Manual pump or pressure - Mechanical or electric drain snake - High pressure cleaning (if required) - Disassembling and cleaning the trap

Checks and re-commissioning

We check that the water is draining normally. The intervention area is cleaned. We show you the result. If the problem is structural (outdated pipe, insufficient slope, common column), we explain it to you, with supporting photos.

Reporting and billing

You receive a clear report with what has been done, what we have found, and our advice if necessary. The bill is detailed, unsurprisingly. Payment on site or remotely, card, bank transfer or cash. A serious, rapid intervention, and without blah blah.
